    For you "Shiney Watchers"

For those of you following the continuing adventures of Very Shiney, she is in at Zia park on Sunday. 8th race. We have been giving her an hour or so of paddock time after she trains every day and she seems a smidge more amenable in the stall. I guess I will find out if she needs that sort of angry "edge" about her to compete, or if a bit happier means better performing.

Gotta love the primadonna mares! And you know as soon as you think you've figured out that happines = performance, all of a sudden she'll decide she needs to be angry :)

    Good luck!

Well, her happiness has made for easier shot giving. It wasn't easy as in "normal horse" easy, but much improved, she didn't hurt any of us, that's a plus!! I still used a 24" long extension, and it still took about 30 minutes, but she did agree to relax somewhat! :)

Huge 3rd for Very Shiney at 35-1 odds.

Bet $17.20 on the race..........got back $58.13 for the dime superfecta.

Didn't see the race.......no video feed from Xpressbet.

    Nice effort.

    Shiney is quite the speedster.

Fractions were brutal in the race..........but she held tight.

    Re: For you "Shiney Watchers"

Sorry guys! A friend hauled Shiney home Sunday night and I started driving east. Dad's in the hospital in KY and my brother wouldn;t go down from IL, so I have been driving!

I thought Shiney lookd uncomfortable the whole race :-. Her action was real up and down, not like her, and Ricardo started encouraging her in the turn, never has to that early with her. I was actually surprised to get third, the way she was going. She coughed some after the race, but won't allow us to scope her. Groom said she was stiff behind coming out this morning, but after her paddock time she came in pretty good. She acted like she was in her version of heat (she is a Regumate princess), tried to glue her butt to the 5 horse when we were unsaddling and did about 6 "little pees" after her normal pee after the race. Doc risked life and limb and managed to pull some blood this a.m. and the CBC looked ok, not sure if she was able to do a chem panel or not. All boils down to, maybe she just doesn;t like the Zia surface (neither do I), or maybe we will never know... Sometimes in this game you just keep throwing crap at the wall until some sticks ;)

Sorry to hear about your dad, PF!

Just curious, have you ever thought to try Shiney on a magnesium suppliment?

Congrats to Ms. Shiney.......nifty little paycheck.

I saw Atlantic Breeze was running (didn't fare well), but missed Very Shiney.

She won it by a nose.
