I must spend entirely too much time at that end of critters. I can sex ducks too - which is really difficult.
I should have had you figure out our baby bunnies because when they were 6 weeks old the "EXOTIC" small animal vet CONFIRMED we had 2 girls. (which is what we intended) - at 4 months old it was found that "bitsy" (as the she/he was the itsy bitsy one) was actually a BOY. You don't even want to know how this was confirmed - and how my daughter is the one who 'questioned' it - Thankfully, even though he had the equipment, it wasn't functionally at that age so no baby bon-bons for us!!! I even have bunny porn pics that I sent to a friend to verify what was there was actually what it looked like was there.... Remember that stace? Baby bunnies are as tough as ducklings. You can't just look, you have to "go in" to see if there is a extra part, or not. Its really difficult to tell if they are really tinly. bunnies are really easy for me to sex I could tell you the day they were born and was never wrong sexed at least 100 babies

I just had a friend contact me asking if I knew of any kittens. She wants a female kitten to keep her cat company because it's been diagnosed as clinically depressed Says she'll take one as soon as they're ready!

This may be a stupid question but how long are kittens/puppies supposed to stay with their mothers? I've heard 6 weeks but then I heard it was 8 weeks in Illinois BY LAW?

6 weeks is fine for small breed dogs and kittens. I have seen some GSD advertised ready to go as young as 5 weeks. I think that is to young myself but not my puppies so I have no say. TAZ was 6 weeks and he is fine. I think being so young is why he is so glued to me but who knows I could be wrong won't be the first time.
But any way 6 weeks would be fine. Just watch the kittens you will know if they need a little more time.

I think 6 weeks should be fine as long as they are eating and drinking then...I would assume the by law thing is if you are selling them.

IMO, 6 weeks is a bit young. Will they survive, sure. As long as they are in a environment where they are being handled and well cared for, they just seem to be better adjusted if you wait until 7 or 8. They learn lots from their littermates and Mom, so why not give them the extra week or so to get them off to a great start.

Theresa is right. Kittens will be fine at 6 weeks to go on their own, but studies have shown that they are more socialized and make for better all around kiki's if they stay with momma until 8 weeks. Those 2 extra weeks make a lot of difference.

Thanks guys! So anyone who is interested in a kitten, they will be ready on March 18! Buffy's friend wants a little girl, so I have 2 girls and a boy left. I do have one little dilema, here she is: I know she kinda looks like an alien in the picture but she has a little, well actually a huge piece of my heart.

I tried to talk my mother into another kitty cat. Our current inside kitty has always done well with kittens because he has helped raise 3 litters. He lets them nurse off of him. It's actually kind of cute. I tried the whole route but we just put down the other cat and he's lonely, but it didn't work. Sorry bb but if I was on my own I would snatch one up in a heartbeat.
p.s. He really isn't lonely but I thought I would try it. I really wanted on of those little girls.

Well lookie here. Lookin like we have yet another indiscriminate breeder on our hands. Three litters of kittens. Ya'll ever heard of altering your pets? Ya'll know what happens with unfixed animals get together dontcha? Maybe not. Do I need to explain it to ya? My uncle down in KY. had the job of being the executioner at one of the local shelters. It wasn't pretty. Unfortunately it was the only job he could get at the time to feed the family. Poor man went home and cryed every night.

We had 3 females dropped off in the 11 years that we have been living in the house. We have 1, and 3 others have homes. All the other cats have either been hit by cars, or have been dinner by the local coyotes. They weren't imbreed either! I know they weren't cause none of them lasted long enough to breed with each other. My cat now was around for 3 litters after his, and he is fixed. I know what happens to unfixed cats, but we knew they wouldn't last long living outside. The ones that died lasted no longer than a year. Do

I think it was a little UNECESSARY to jump her ass without knowing her situation. When I read her post breeder doesn't even come to mind. Lay off.
